Upper Hunter Family Support Service is a voluntary service with a focus on strengthening and supporting families. We support parents and carers with children in their care up to the age of 12 years. Our workers will listen to your needs and provide your family with guidance, encouragement and strategies to make your own decisions.

Family Support can assist with issues relating to Domestic or Family Violence, Grief, Loss or Change, Isolation, lack of support, advocacy and referral to specialist services, financial assistance and parenting strategies and programs.

Family Support also facilitate a variety of free community programs including specific skills groups and social support groups:

  • Mums' Circle – a 6 week social group focusing on self care skills and special interest topics
  • Little Steps - A specific group for Mothers under the age of 25
  • Seasons for Growth –for those who have experienced the impact of a significant loss or change such as death, separation or divorce. 
  • Spring Cleaning: A Living Skills Program – looking at aspects of general housekeeping

Family Support Group Worker also facilitates free parenting programs:

  • 123 Magic & Emotion Coaching- Aimed at parents with children between the ages of 2-12yrs
  •  Engaging Adolescents- Aimed at parents with teenagers
  • Group Triple P- an 8 week Positive Parenting Program

Service coverage includes: Muswellbrook, Murrurundi, Merriwa, Denman, Scone, Aberdeen and surrounding districts.
